Fatehpur Sikri, July 2012

The Fort and palace complex at Fatehpur Sikri was built by Akbar. Akbar wanted to reuse the Persian architecture principles. A Hindu architect blended Akbar's vision with local design styles to create an excellent synthesis of design. Akbar did not spend much time here and his successors largely ruled from Agra or Delhi. The complex has seen very little wear and tear. Most structures are very well preserved.
